geared up

Still no word on the webpage. It doesn't look like the paperwork will be going through before the end of the year, unfortunately. I guess I'm not too worried anymore. As long as I eventually get through and am able to sign up for classes, I guess I'm okay. SA apparently wanted me to sign up for Insect Physiology and Morphology, but it seems like it's not even being offered this spring?

Today was Yule, and coincidentally my father's family Christmas gathering. I got an insect net, a specimen case, pins, and a spreading block. The specimen case had a broken glass cover, but that actually worked out...the company is sending me a new one, and I get to keep the old one. The glass probably won't be too hard to replace. I'm really excited...can't wait to start collecting!

A brief introduction

Today I tried, once again, to see if any progress had been made on my application. I'm getting sort of sick of calling the graduate school office. When I first applied, the computer sent my electronic application to the wrong department...so I had to call to have that fixed. Then, I had to call to have my GRE scores forwarded to Entomology. And now, I have professors holding spots for me in required classes, but I can't enroll until the irritatingly unreachable woman in the grad school office puts my application into the computer.

I'm sick of getting the runaround. I'm getting really anxious. Writing might help.

I'm applying for an M.S. program in Entomology. I'm utterly fascinated by insects. I can't wait to start learning.

I hope to chronicle my grad school experiences here. I think some day I'll probably want to look back at this stage of my life. Well, maybe not.

Besides entomology, some themes that may pop up from time to time include ultimate frisbee, carnivorous plants, cacti/succulents, orchids, knitting, and video games. I'll try to stay focused, though.
